More details

Cyndan Efflorescence Removing Solution is a Phosphoric Acid based cleaner designed to remove white efflorescence stains from hard surfaces.

Efflorescence is the formation of salt deposits on or near the surface of tiles, concrete, bricks, pavers and other masonry surfaces that arises when water moves through a wall or hard surface (or being driven out by the heat of hydration as cement store is being formed) brings salts to the surface as the water evaporates. It typically occurs during the initial cure of a cementitious product.

Efflorescence Removing Solution will remove these salt based stains often referred to as Primary Efflorescence. Once cleaned of efflorescence and any other staining, Cyndan Micro Inviso Shield (water based) or Shield IT (Solvent based) should be used as these penetrating sealers will repel and prevent moisture coming to the surface and creating further efflorescence.

These penetrating sealers also prevent external moisture getting into the structure or hard surface in the first place and coating new sources of moisture leading to efflorescence.

Secondary Efflorescence can also occur. Unlike Primary Efflorescence that occurs during initial curing, secondary efflorescence arises due to the external influence of concrete poisons such as chlorides. Common examples are found with salt being absorbed into concrete where it can dissolve cement stone. This kind of efflorescence impacts the structural integrity of the building and requires advice from structural engineers.

Efflorescence Removing Solution, Micro Inviso Shield and Shield IT will still offer valuable aids to the process of rectifying Secondary Efflorescence, but structural repairs and patching of the surface will be essential. Cyndan Rust Buster can also be used to coat rusting rebar or replacement rebar used to patch affected areas.
