Tuf Stuff

Read the product SDS carefully before handling this product.

Apply at a rate of 2 square metres per litre per coat. Coverage may vary depending on the surface and the application technique. Apply 2 to 3 coats. Additional coats may be applied for heavier traffic areas.

Surface Preparation and Priming:
Surfaces must be stable, dry, clean and free of any loose substances that may diminish adhesion including dust and flaking, friable material.

Concrete and porous tiles
The surface must be porous to allow the product to bond. Test porosity by spilling droplets of water on the surface. If there is little absorption, then additional preparation is required. This involves etching the surface with acid. Once etched, the acid must be washed away and the surface neutralised. Where porosity is still inadequate, the surface may require mechanical abrading or sandblasting.

Once the surface is sufficiently porous, prime the surface. If the surface is external where water moisture may be trapped in the substrate use a primer that also seals. Ensure the primer has cured before applying the product.

Treat metal to remove rust and then etch prime the surface. Apply the product as soon as possible after the etch primer has fully cured and before surface contamination reappears.

Painted surfaces
Test an inconspicuous section of the surface with a solvent. If the paint is affected or likely to peel, then do NOT proceed. Remove paint, clean and etch prime the original surface. If the paint is not affected, roughen the surface with sandpaper or a wire brush and clean the surface before application of the product.

Sand to remove all the gloss and clean with a solvent. Ensure there are no traces of release agents, waxes or other additives before application of the product.

Timber & Fibre Cement Sheeting
Roughen the surface with sandpaper or a wire brush. Clean the surface with a solvent. Prime the surface. Ensure the primer has cured before applying the product.

  1. Stir product thoroughly before applying and during the application process.
  2. Apply using a brush, roller or by spray in coats of approximately 0.5 mm thick until the desired thickness is achieved.
  3. Apply the following coats as soon as possible and best within 48 hours. When applying by spray, apply following coats at right angles to the preceding cured coat. It is important that the product’s texture is maintained with each coat.

Drying and Curing
The following drying and curing times are a guide only as actual times are dependent on the type and porosity of the surface, application method and humidity, ventilation and temperature.

Indicative curing rates:
Tack free: 6 to 12 hours; Solid cure: 24 hours; Full cure: 24 to 72 hours. Product is suitable for light loads after 36 hours and full load after 72 hours. The product achieves its full properties after 96 to 168 hours.

Clean up
Avoid spills as they are difficult to clean, particularly off porous surfaces. Use a wet cloth and a solvent.

Clean equipment immediately after use with a solvent.

The product is durable; however, the nature of its uses means it is subject to wear and tear. Monitor the surface and when wear and tear occurs, maintain as follows:

  1. Remove any damaged or loose product.
  2. Clean and roughen the surface as well as surrounding coated area with sandpaper or wire brush. Remove loose material and clean with a solvent. Allow solvent to evaporate.
  3. Apply product as above, including 20 mm onto existing sound, surrounding coated area.

Chemical spills: Product has good chemical resistance properties; however, chemical spills must be immediately cleaned from the treated surfaces.

Keep clean and free from a build-up of dirt, fatty and greasy substances. Product performance relies on the texture of the aggregate within the polyurethane resin, and so effectiveness is reduced or negated by such build-up.

Store in a cool, dry place away from heat, flame or combustible materials. The product cures on contact with water moisture and contains flammable solvents.
